BAKING SODA

Baking soda,  neutralizes acidic water odors, absorbs odors in the air, and its mild abrasiveness makes it a powerful substitute for commercially manufactured abrasive powders. As an abrasive, it can be used to clean kitchen counters, sinks, tubs, ovens, fiberglass plates, stainless steel, aluminum, chrome, plastic, porcelain and jewelry . As a natural air freshener, it can be used to freshen the air or sanitize carpets. It can help keep bathroom drains in good condition and also help unclog them. It can soften fabrics and remove certain stains. It can even be used to soften water and added to bath water.

1. Baking soda, wash dishes better

  • To make your glasses and silverware shine, sprinkle baking soda on a cotton cloth (organic) moistened with water, rub gently then rinse and dry with another cloth.

  • To clean burnt pans or pots, put 2 or 3 tsp of baking soda in the bottom of the dish and add a little hot water. Leave on for 20 minutes then rinse. For the most encrusted deposits, rub with a damp sponge sprinkled with baking soda.

  • Another solution to remove cooking residues: fill the pan with water and 2 tbsp of baking soda and bring to the boil for 5 minutes. Leave to cool then remove the cooking residue using a wooden spoon.

  • To wash plastic containers (flasks, boxes, etc.), immerse them for several hours in a solution of two tbsp of baking soda and 1L of water. Then rub them with a sponge and rinse.

2. Baking soda, the anti-odor solution

Baking soda is the green product for removing bad odors in all rooms of the house. Just put some baking soda in a cup or a small open box, and place it where you want to neutralize odors.
For example :

  • in the fridge, freezer, or under the sink (to be changed every 3 months),

  • in the oven or microwave before the next cooking,

  • in your linen or shoe cabinets,

  • in the garage, cellar or basement…

To deodorize sofas, rugs and carpets and revive their colors, sprinkle baking soda on them. Leave on for 15 minutes up to 24 hours in case of persistent odors, then vacuum.

You can also pour it directly into your trash bag as it fills up. It is also an ecological solution to pour at the bottom of the ashtray to avoid the diffusion of the smells of cigarettes.

To eliminate bad odors from the pipes, pour 1/2 cup of baking soda into them, then run hot water.

Baking soda, impeccable kitchen equipment

In addition to absorbing odors, baking soda, with a little water, removes traces of food or encrusted grease everywhere in the kitchen: a real scouring cream! In addition, it is a powerful anti-limestone!

  • To remove traces of food or limescale from your sinks, taps and hobs, rub them with a sponge on which you have applied a mixture of 3/4 baking soda and 1/4 water?, then rinse and dry.

  • Clean the oven, the microwave, or the grills of the barbecue with a paste made of water and baking soda (2 tbsp) to pass on the dirtiest surfaces. For very encrusted deposits, leave to act overnight then rub with a sponge.

  • Clean the walls of the refrigerator or freezer with 1L of water mixed with 2 tbsp of baking soda to pass with a sponge. To remove stains or traces of mold, use a paste (3 parts baking soda to one part water) applied to a sponge.

Improve the efficiency of your washing machines

3. Baking soda and dishwasher safe

  • Before activating the pre-wash cycle, you can sprinkle a large quantity of baking soda directly on the dirty dishes: this helps to avoid bad odors and reduce the quantity of chemical dishwashing products!

  • To increase the performance of your usual detergent, you can also add two tbsp of baking soda during the wash cycle.

  • To deodorize and degrease the dishwasher, add 100g empty baking soda once a month during the rinsing phase.

  • To prevent the formation of limescale in the washing machine, carry out once a month an empty wash with 150 g of baking soda.

1.
