Serious infestation of flies: what to do?

The hotter it is, the more flies grow! Sometimes we find flies that seem dead to us, but which are actually at rest and just waiting for the heat to resume their activities.

Discover where flies breed

The first thing to do is find out where they breed. As they lay a large amount of eggs, flies can quickly get out of control if you cannot locate the breeding source.

Flies breed on waste and decomposing bodies, dead animals: mice or birds, animal droppings, uncovered garbage cans, manure and the bodies of dead animals.

Precautions to take:

Sealing strips

Wrap windows and doors with weather stripping, seal crevices and cracks along walls, doors and windows.

mosquito net

- close the windows or block them with well-fitting mosquito nets. Stretch the canvas directly over the window frames, tripling the canvas at the edges so that it does not tear.

Place traps

These traps, whether lighted or not, are specially designed for flies

Place them in front of windows where flies enter.

In case of severe infestation

You have to use an insecticide!

You can find it at hardware stores, grocery stores and garden centers.

chemical control of flies

Insecticide should be sprayed outside around door and window frames to keep flies out, and inside (keeping pets and children away and being careful not to contaminate food) on door and window frames, baseboards, floors or coverings, under furniture, in closets, and in crevices or other places where flies hide.

The directions for use on the product label will tell you what precautions to take. But be aware that some flies have become resistant to most insecticides.

1.
